Embo campaign - part two
A new chapter - Our next challenge is to ride from Chatham to Gibraltar from 02-12 June 2009 for Emily Rose Loughrey.
In June 2007 we lost our beautiful daughter Emily Rose to a wild form of cancer. Emily was just 22 years of age when she passd away. In such a short life she had achieved more than most in a full life. Emily always had a smile and always helped others when she could. Emily made friends everywhere she worked and everywhere she went. It has been these friends who helped us to raise £56000 for CLIC Sargent during our last campaign. To see how we managed to raise the money please have a look at our blog.
Last year our flagship event was the Lands End to John O Groats Bike Ride EMBO LEJOG.

This year Russ Oldfield and I are going to bike ride from Chatham to Gibraltar.
We will be setting off on our marathon journey on 02 June 2009 (what would have been Emilys 24th birthday) and arriving in Gibraltar on 12 June 09 (the 2nd anniversary of her passing away) The bike ride will be a gruelling 150 miles a day through mainland Europe which takes in the Pyrenees on route to Gibraltar.

As a family we will be forever in debt to Emily Rose for giving us 22 years of treasured moments, they were quality years. The debt also runs to the staff of Kennaway Ward at the Royal Marsden Sutton and the CLIC Sargent team for the support they gave and continue to give to us the Loughrey Family. CLIC Sargent provides outstanding care and support for all children and young people up to the age of 25 with cancer. CLIC also provides support for their families and carers.
Thank You for helping us make a difference

CLIC Sargent Assembly at Chatham Grammar School for Girls
On Tuesday 30 October Porsche Smith & Natalie Crispe held a 6 form assembly at Chatham Grammar School for Girls. Their objective was to raise awareness about CLIC Sargent and the EMBO LEJOG. To help them with their Assembly they invited Dan Powell from CLIC Sargent to give an overview of how the charity helps young people with cancer.
The school has been raising money by selling cakes and so far has raised over £600.
Well done & a huge thanks to Porsche, Natalie for raising awareness and a big thanks to the school for supporting them.
